The visitors<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Weekly nightmares, fit for a horror movie, gate-crashed their nights. They started after <\/span><\/span>V\u00e9ro<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u2019s first module of <\/span><\/span>feng shui <\/span><\/span><\/span>(a coincidence, of course\u2026)<\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Like prey before its predator, she finds herself defenceless, face to face with entities that take possession of her body. Despite their sometimes radiant appearance, it\u2019s more despair and anguish that emanate from them. Each time, it\u2019s the voice of her husband, terror-stricken, that cries out to her from the other side of the dream: \u2018Darling! Darling! What\u2019s happening to you?!\u2019<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Desperate, he tries to wake her up in order to calm her down, but to no avail. His wife\u2019s body, bathed in sweat, is in the throes of convulsions. V\u00e9ro would love to be able to cry out, but her cries remain stuck in her throat. It\u2019s uber scary and considerably compounds her already very stressful panic attack. Her heart beats so loudly that she has the impression of it literally going to jump out of her chest!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Purificator<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Chance determined that the feng shui tutor chose their house to perform a demonstration. Followed by her whole group of tutees, she proceeds slowly from one room to another. She serenely holds out at arm\u2019s length a bowl of incense<\/span><\/span> (olibanum with charcoal, if you want to try it\u2026)<\/span><\/span><\/span>, as she does so enveloping in smoke those following<\/span><\/span><\/span>. The leader solemnly calls out to her \u2018<\/span><\/span>invisible guides\u2019, whom she addresses as \u2018beings of light\u2019, asking them to chase away those that are already in the room <\/span><\/span>(go figure\u2026). <\/span><\/span><\/span>A few turns and the whole of that polite little crowd bows and scrapes profusely and makes its way home. Their visit has certainly made an impact! Yes, but not the one expected, as the situation has taken a serious turn for the worse!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Once night has fallen, there are to be heard in the attic, just above the parents\u2019 bedroom, some sinister creaks of footsteps, though no-one is there! Some violent blows are struck in that upper bedroom, as well as on their door, which opens into that room. When the terrified couple switch on the lamp, the light makes the din stop abruptly. Not knowing what to do, Alex spontaneously burns some purifying feng-shui essence, which is supposed to drive away evil curses, but to no avail, for, as soon as he presses the switch again, the disturbance immediately restarts to accompany the darkness <\/span><\/span>(could be that poltergeists like the smell of the essence!?)<\/span><\/span><\/span>. V\u00e9ro now has that unpleasant feeling of \u2018presences\u2019 passing through her\u2026 even in broad daylight!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Imaginary visitors<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

As she is going to bed, V\u00e9ro comes upon her daughter Eva standing in front of the attic door, bringing to an end an animated conversation with … nobody! The composure of the little girl leaves no shadow of doubt as to the reality of \u2018the lady\u2019 with whom she was speaking. And there\u2019s something downright sinister and disconcerting about that. There\u2019s also this man who came into her bedroom, whom she had first mistaken for her father, and who terrified her. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Communication between them and K\u00e9rane, their teenager, isn\u2019t going very well any more, and he is shutting himself away more and more in his bedroom and in reading material that worries his mum <\/span><\/span>(but that\u2019s quite normal\u2026 Uh, these mums who are always freaking out!)<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u2026<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

But let\u2019s go back to the beginning of this story\u2026<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018Date in the forest\u2019<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Barely has she arrived home than V\u00e9ro leaps on to her favourite sofa to begin right away reading the book she got from Sandra <\/span><\/span>(the housework can wait!)<\/span><\/span><\/span>. More than the \u2018forest\u2019 aspect<\/span><\/span> (well-being linked to nature), <\/span><\/span><\/span>it\u2019s the enthusiasm of her new friend that <\/span><\/span><\/span>spurs her to turn the first few pages. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The spiritual perspective that she discovers there is of a completely different order from the one she has known until then. It\u2019s a string of anecdotes about the everyday life of an uncomplicated guy who has a friendship with God.<\/span><\/span><\/span> His struggles and humour, at once irresistible and profound, echo inside her <\/span><\/span>(at this point it\u2019s fair to say that I am showing off a bit!)<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u2026<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This approach has, for her, something disconcerting and innovative about it. Isn\u2019t \u2018God\u2019 that antiquated, heavy-going, fusty concept right out of the Middle Ages? <\/span><\/span>(her thing is more New Age!)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018\u00a0\u2026Why couldn\u2019t that happen to me?\u2019 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And there, alone on her sofa, she timidly speaks to God for the first time in her life.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018\u00a0\u2026But do I have the right to speak to Him like this?\u2019 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
