Where\u2019s that bottle?<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0 I\u2019m at the supermarket, stuck, as if disabled, between tinned foods and Asian condiments<\/span>. I\u2019m desperately looking for a very particular wee green bottle: wasabi! No matter how painstakingly my searching eyes have scanned the shelves in front of me, centimetre by centimetre, enough to wear them out, it\u2019s no use:\u00a0<\/span>I can\u2019t see it! <\/b><\/span>I am in the right section, though: <\/span>it ought to be there!!<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n Some shop-worker must have deliberately hidden it, for some dark, unmentionable reasons.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Alright, then, plan B!<\/span><\/p>\n I now look for a sales person (not sure if this is going to be any easier!)… I catch one, crouched down, excavating the shampoo section, with his right arm buried in the unexpected depths of a shelf. When I ask him if he\u2019s the joker who\u2019s hidden the wasabi, he gets up and, head down, charges towards \u2018my\u2019 section. With no effort at all, he stretches out his hand and extracts from it the little bottle of wasabi!<\/span><\/p>\n Looking like an idiot!<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0 Momentarily letting drop the impassive self-restraint of the salesperson, a faint smirk forms on his face. The small sneer is perceptible enough to make him slightly roll his eyes… Thinking I was about to be awarded a medal, as a righter of wrongs, for noting the disappearance of the prized product, there I was, left looking like a complete jerk.<\/span><\/p>\n The packaging<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0 If I didn\u2019t see it, there\u2019s a good reason why: the item is now adorned with new packaging, which it didn\u2019t have before! And my memory had an exact mental image of that bottle which did not correspond to the reality. In the end, it\u2019s not the appearance of this darn bottle (oh yes, it is very appealing, blah blah blah) that interests me<\/span>… but much more the taste of what it contains, OK?!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Haven\u2019t you seen God?!<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0 You have honestly asked God to show you that He exists, asked Him for – you know – a sign!…\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Well, I\u2019m pretty sure that He\u2019s done it: think of my story about the wasabi… you need to accept that He\u2019s different from what you imagine (even if your idea of the divine is very appealing)!<\/span><\/p>\n And if you have prayed for some thingummyjig… but there\u2019s been nowt…\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Hmmmm… Wasabi, man, WASABI<\/span>\u2009<\/span>!<\/span>\u2009<\/span>!<\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Where\u2019s that bottle? \u00a0 I\u2019m at the supermarket, stuck, as if disabled, between tinned foods and Asian condiments.
