Cultural problem ?

No, my comic does touch the American youth!

I saw it during my trip to Mississippi

 

Advertising?

The comic was available on a shelf somewhere in the USA,

But who knew it…?!

I had to do my own advertising there….

They said they could do my advertising if I

Had paid 10,000 $ cash!

(well, I’m already suffering for getting a small salary sometimes…so, as strange as it appears to be, I said no!)

I tried many things starting by ‘’we could just…’’

But …(anyway…)

In fact: no marketing, no advertising: no fruits!

 

Tomatoes defeat!

All this looks like my small tomatoes on my porch,

I didn’t take care of them and now,

Even though I tried to save some of them, it’s all damned…

The USA is a good ‘’market’’, OK (even for those tomatoes)

It could help me to take off from my survival condition

But there is something else for me,

I feel that I stole something from them in Heaven

 

Restart?

Then, I felt on my knees,

I replant those poor sick fruits

With a sincerely love and then I

Prayed for this huge country

(It actually needs prayers, whatever we say about it)

The biggest tree on Earth

Was first a small act of faith,

Just a little seed of madness,

Which hasn’t been despised

 

The future

 ("idées reçues1" en français) aux USA:
2006, je signe un contrat avec un éditeur Anglais,
 2'000 vendue en UK,
 500 chez nous,
 2'000 donnée,
 (Aujourd'hui, Il m'en reste 2'000)
 2009, Le contrat s'arrête (pas assez de vente selon lui)
2011, je signe avec un distributeur Américain.
 2012, fin du contrat

Problème culturel?
Non, ma bd touche les jeunes américain!
je l'ai vu lors de mon passage au Mississippi,
 
Pub?
La BD était dispo sur une étagère quelque par aux USA,
mais qui le savait...?!
la pub c'étais à moi de la faire...
 
On m'a proposé de m'y faire de la pub
si je payais cash dix mille dollars!
(heuu... J'ai déjà peine à recevoir un petit salaire de temps en temps alors... C bizarre mais là, j'ai dit non)
j'ai essayé alors plusieurs plans qui tous commençaient par:
- « yaka...» mais bon... (je me sens bien seul là)...
Bref: pas de marketing, pas de pub: pas de fruits.
 
Défaite des tomates
Tous ça, ressemble à mes petites tomates devant l'entrée,
je n'ai pas su m'en occuper et maintenant,
J'ai beau essayer de sauver ce que je peux, elles sont toutes mal foutues...
Les USA c'est "marché" intéressant, ok (même pour des tomates),
Il pourrait m'aider à sortir du mode « survie »
mais pour moi, il y a plus,
je sent que j'ai quelque chose que j'ai piqué au ciel pour eux
(+ qu'une pizza au étoile...)
 
Recommencement?
Alors voilà, je suis tombé sur mes genoux,
j'ai replanté ces petits fruits malades
avec un amour que j'espère le plus sincère possible
et j'ai prié pour ce grand pays
(qui, quoi qu'on en dise, en a tellement besoin...)
 
Le plus grand arbre en ce monde
à d'abord été un petit acte de foi,
à peine un grain de folie,
qui n'a pas été méprisé.

The offense

I understand quite quickly

A friend of mine made fun of this failing,

In front of my children and my trainees.

While he was laughing out loud,

I was feeling really humiliated…
The second swipe

As a ‘’good Christian’’ I told to myself:

-« Well…anyway, I shut up and forget it. »
But Jesus does not have this opinion:

-« If anyone slaps you on the right cheek,

turn to them the other cheek also. » (Mat 5 :39)
Thereby, I can’t ’’forget’’, but return and tell him:

-« Hey, you hurt me! »

If he is ‘’regular’’, he will justify himself:

-« OK, but it’s not only my fault, but also yours! (or the society’s one),

I had the right to say it, and blabla… »

And for me, this will be similar to THE 2nd SWIPE!
Slap!

I went back to my friend and…

amazing, he asked for forgiveness without slapping me!

That kind of friend is pretty rare (conserve it preciously)
A real super hero

Is someone stronger than himself
An old musician of Saahsal

went to meet one of my friends, knocked at the door and,

almost crying, humbly asked for forgiveness because he had criticized him,

and this even if his friend didn’t know it.
In general, people ask for forgiveness 

ONLY if they are caught! ( ?!)
This last testimony

impressed me even more than

the one I met one evening

and he had brought back to life many dead people! (seriously!)
Since then, I have for this friend an immense regard in my heart. (even if I have never told him)
The value of a human being

It is not the big biblical knowledge,

nor the titles (former, priest, chair coordinator for the left aisle, or big choucroute cook for the apostle of the last days)

nor the accomplished miracles,

nor the talent of sanctimonious to the ‘’inferior beeings’’ (which are ‘’the others’’)

which determines the spiritual level of someone,

unfortunately it is often a religious varnish behind we hide…

But his ability to repent and face his wrongs and change.
The size of a man is the size of his own humility.

L'offense
Je comprends vite
quand on m'explique longtemps...
 
Un ami s'est moqué de ce travers qui m'est propre,
devant mes enfants et mes stagiaires.
Alors qu'il riait seul à s'en tordre les boyaux,
je me sentais super humilié...
 
 
La 2ème baffe
En "bon chrétien" je me dis :
- "Bah... je m'écrase et j'oublie."
 
Mais Jésus n'est pas cet avis :
- "Si quelqu'un te frappe sur la joue droite,
présente-lui aussi l'autre." (Mat 5:39)
 
Ainsi, je ne dois pas "oublier", mais retourner
et lui dire :
- "Tu m'as fait du mal !"
S'il est normal, il se justifiera :
- " OK, mais ce n'est pas que ma faute,
mais aussi la tienne ! (ou celle de la société),
j'ai eu raison de le faire, bla bla bla..."
Et pour moi, ça sera pareil que LA 2ème BAFFE !
 
Paf !
Je retournais vers mon pote et...
Incroyable, il me demanda pardon sans me gifler ! ("justi-gifler" si vous préférez)
Ce genre d'ami est rare (à conserver précieusement).
 
 
Un vrai super héros
c'est quelqu'un plus fort que lui-même
 
Un ancien musicien de Saahsal
alla voir un de mes amis, il sonna à sa porte
et les larmes aux yeux, il lui demanda humblement pardon de l'avoir critiqué,
et cela même que cet ami n'avait pas été mis au courant,
 
Pourtant les gens ne demandent pardon
QUE s'ils se font prendre! (?!)
 
Ce dernier témoignage
m'a impressionné plus encore que
celui de ce chrétien que j'ai rencontré un soir
qui, lui, avait ressuscité plusieurs morts ! (sérieux!)
 
Depuis, j'ai pour cet ami une immense estime dans mon coeur.
(même si je ne lui ai jamais dit)
 
La valeur d'un homme
Ce ne sont ni
les grandes connaissances bibliques,
ni les titres (d'ancien, d'évêque, d'éminent responsable des chaises alignées dans l'allée de gauche, ou de grand mufti de la choucroute garnie des apôtres des derniers jours)
ni les miracles accomplis,
ni le talent de moralisateur auprès des «êtres inférieurs» (c.a.d. : « les autres »)
qui font le niveau spirituel d'une personne,
malheureusement, ce ne sont souvent là, qu'un vernis religieux derrière lequel on se cache...
Mais bien sa qualité de repentance à reconnaître ses torts
et à changer.
 
 
Ce qui fait la grandeur d'un homme,
c'est son humilité.

I went back to my friend and…

amazing, he asked for forgiveness without slapping me!

That kind of friend is pretty rare (conserve it preciously)

went to meet one of my friends, knocked at the door and,

almost crying, humbly asked for forgiveness because he had criticized him,

and this even if his friend didn’t know it.
In general, people ask for forgiveness 

ONLY if they are caught! ( ?!)
This last testimony

impressed me even more than

the one I met one evening

and he had brought back to life many dead people! (seriously!)
Since then, I have for this friend an immense regard in my heart. (even if I have never told him)
The value of a human being

It is not the big biblical knowledge,

nor the titles (former, priest, chair coordinator for the left aisle, or big choucroute cook for the apostle of the last days)

nor the accomplished miracles,

nor the talent of sanctimonious to the ‘’inferior beeings’’ (which are ‘’the others’’)

which determines the spiritual level of someone,

unfortunately it is often a religious varnish behind we hide…

But his ability to repent and face his wrongs and change.
The size of a man is the size of his own humility.
